Parents Involvement

Parents play an important role in their children's learning. I encourage parents to accompany their children in class. Parents can also help consolidating the class materials with their children at home, and provide feedbacks on the teaching style.

Creativity

Imaginative play is a key feature of my classes with young children. Students often create new nursery rhyme lyrics, compose short pieces and explore new ways of playing percussion instruments.

Internalizing music

A music instinct can be built from a "sensitive ear" and a solid theory foundation. To help students appreciate music and evaluate their playing, my course involves training to understand tempo, dynamics, articulation, structure, phrasing and style of new pieces.

Public Performance

Giving public performances is an excellent way to promote students' learning. It helps them setting realistic goals, strengthens their discipline to practice and confidence to play in front of a large audience. Students can also communicate with peers through plays and improve from performance experience.
